The project is located near the mountain earth course of the Bighorn Golf Club in the Palm Desert, California, at the foot of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

Clients often visit deserts during their growth and have always wanted to have a house there. In addition to the feeling of indoor/outdoor openness, he also wants to see the water from every favorable location in the house. Architect+Project Manager Yoav Weiss explains, “This is why we not only cleverly crammed the backyard into the fireplace and kitchen, but also created the entrance patio, which is indeed a very large pond. From anywhere in the backyard, you can see the pool. Water view can be seen from all.

Street views emphasize clean levels, repeated in driveway paving and entrance steps. THE BROWN PORCELAIN EXTERIOR WALL IS DECORATED WITH LIGHT PLASTER, WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE COLORS OF DESERT SAND AND STONE. The goal of the custom black entrance gate is to make it look like a solid fence when closed. The vertical seam of the wood and the horizontal offset fingers are perfectly matched.

Modern Large Room

It is the heart of a house rich in details but not complicated. Interior custom furniture designed by Carla Kalwaitis Design. The all-white kitchen features German Minot Miele appliances, Design Line cabinets and a built-in bar and dining table, fully open to the seating area and fireplace. Our client is an avid chef, so a seat close to the event venue is a must. Using skylights on the roof line is a basic design element. Yoav explains in detail: “Our customers want to see the mountains on all sides, so we supported the ceiling and added windows. In addition to the extra view, they also bring in the light reflected from the ceiling and give a floating, spacious quality to the room.

Wine storage and media room

The large room also has a temperature-controlled wine storage room. It is a custom designed marble lined display rack that holds 144 bottles plus 12 large wine bottles with LED lighting. Clients' specific needs and lifestyles are an ongoing part of the design discussion. “He wanted to use the space cleverly,” Yoav said when talking to clients. “He didn't feel the need for a big home theater, so it was more like a media room. It is fully open for casual TV viewing, so you can see the entrance pond on the right, as well as people hanging out in the wine room, or you can close the door and turn off the lights, it's a mini theater.

Patio & Swimming Pool

The outdoor living space offers all the elements; water, fire and ingenious landscape beautification to bring nature in close contact while enhancing privacy. Cooking and entertaining can take place in the full outdoor kitchen and dining area, with fireplace seats surrounded by unique fireplaces and equipped with LED lights. The pool has two fixed water loungers with umbrellas, and there is an outdoor shower in the corner next to the main bathroom.
