Create a visually balanced and experience-rich home

Designers put “wholeness” into design considerations, creating living spaces that are “different” through organic interactions between the blocks, “and” and “different” embodies the whole with a consistent and harmonious poetic base; “different” embodies the unique appearance of each functional area and uses it according to the owner's habits Adapted to the scene, it is designed to create a comfortable and rich living experience.

Overall construction, and without distinction

The project is located in a two-storey duplex apartment in Beijing. Designed to incorporate the “landscaping” approach into the block structure, create cozy homes that are serene, independent and interconnected by using the elements of the gallery and yours in the residential design. The combination of natural materials, wood, handmade bricks, marble and stainless steel, creates a poetic and comfortable base, while being modern. Either open a small window between the functional blocks and visually correspond to each other; or directly connect them together, breaking the conventional “layout concept” and putting the design into everyday scenes, so that family members can take care of each other even in different spaces.

Boundless Interaction

Entering the entrance gate, through a narrow path, the view opens up to the living room. The integrated design of the dining room allows for more inclusive interaction between the blocks of the space. Visually, the public space has a more spacious atmosphere, emphasizing the social attributes of these three spaces. The entire living room wall acts as a background wall, giving the dining room a visual center, thereby reducing the sense of clutter. At the same time, the book wall, as a joint element of the first and second floor space, creates a striking atmosphere of book aroma, and the adjacent floor-to-ceiling windows introduce bright lighting. Located in the center of the living room, the “Skyscraper” on the second floor corresponds to the book wall, both in terms of functions related to books and a response to the wooden material. The staircase leading to the second floor is designed in a revolving style, which weakens the roughness of the space due to the large number of right angles. The spiral staircase leads directly to the two-level book wall, yoga platform and study, allowing the occupant's hobbies to be released at home. This second floor study, thanks to its special structural load, the combination of glass and wooden frames, makes the overall space unobtrusive. Whether it is viewed from one floor to the second floor or overlooking the living room in the study, it is a more special space experience for the occupant's daily life.

Material Collision, Reality Occurs

Adjacent to the dining and kitchen area of the living room, while maintaining an open layout and viewing it as an “independent whole”, stainless steel is incorporated into the wooden cabinet doors, applied to the operating countertops and walls, wood with a calm atmosphere, and stainless steel with a modern industrial feel, forming a sharp contrast collision, which can be reflected around the stainless steel. Contrasting with more “solid” wood creates a visual sensation that inhabits reality, and the space is more layered and flexible. And from the point of view of everyday practicality, choose two types of patterned stainless steel to solve the problem of countertop flowers in a clever way. The dining area creates a holistic feel through the use of floor and ceiling materials. Geometric tiles with a clean ceiling, separating the dining kitchen area and the living room from the floor to the ceiling, are both in the same whole and retain their own independence. The kitchen area consists mainly of Nakajima, operating table, cabinet, and window opening on the wall next to the operating table, allowing you to fight against the guards. Emphasizes the interaction between family and cooking characters. The gas pipe breaks through the traditional encapsulated pipe design, with a wooden precision structure that both hides the pipes and satisfies the homeowner's collection cup display function. The frame-based design is very open and lightweight, visually balancing the “sense of weight” of the cabinet and Nakajima.

Compound Functions

Equipment pipes were piled on top of the original corridor, making the corridor low-pressure and re-combing and integrating the electrical equipment to both sides and forming an arched structure in the middle. The sky is as colorful as possible, a beam of light falls from the sky to give a small space a sense of space and design as much as possible, and makes every transition from bedroom to public space a bit ceremonial. Both master bedrooms and senior rooms emphasize “multifunctionality” to meet residents' needs as much as possible in a limited space. The master bedroom suite continues the calm texture of the wood, and the ceilings and beams are covered in arcs, making them softer. A dressing room opens up in the master bedroom, the space layout is compact but very powerful. The toilet also has a more interesting folding door. The mirror is made into a sliding mirror cabinet that hides storage functions, both useful and good looking.

The old man's room across from the master bedroom continues the atmosphere of simplicity and gentleness. The originally large beams on the windows suppress the space. The wooden frame design allows one to ignore the presence of the beams while the wooden frame blocks look out of the window, as if looking at a wooden frame oil painting. The senior room also hides a variety of features such as hidden projection curtains, powerful lockers, and more. From structure to layout to material, this duplex home displays sophistication in its simplicity and conceals the classic in its modernity. A beautiful, balanced and atmospheric home with wood color permeates the whole. Wood serves as a visual focal point, and the old gallery structure is reborn in the home, allowing reading to extend from the book to the home. Comfortable lines, delicate textures, and changing structures, in the delicate shaping of this sense of body, are the traditions of oriental romanticism. Architecture, building a container with a design that encapsulates the daily vision of the inhabitants; in symbiosis, space coexists with the inhabitants, and the design becomes more vivid and unique due to its preferences and habits.
