THIS DRAINAGE EXPANDED A SINGLE-FAMILY HOME IN ALAWAKA AND ADDED A FLOOR TO INTRODUCE NEW HOMES. The renovation includes making the terrace on the top floor of the house suitable for living and providing a separate bedroom for the son in the house. The process of creating a new space begins with the appearance of the intervening one. The most important thing at the beginning of the design is how to transform the previous brick structure and the house covered with a lot of vegetation. To prevent the house from increasing too much in height, we chose a dome shape. In this way, we are able to reach higher heights inside, give the space a greater sense of scale and reduce the perception of its height from the outside. In addition, this domed crown does not conflict with the cubic shape of other parts of the house.
The ground floor area of the house is 50 square meters with a passage, a bedroom and a bathroom. The upper floor area is 130 square meters, divided into two zones: private area and public area. The private area has a bedroom and a bathroom. In the common area, the kitchen, restaurant and living room are located in an open-plan room with large windows facing north. This space also retains a huge round skylight that illuminates the stairwell, leaving the entire room full of light. The internal structure is solved with very few materials. MORTAR FLOORS, COUNTERTOPS AND SHOWERS ARE MADE OF POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL, AND THE REST OF THE FURNITURE IS MADE OF PLYWOOD AND FELT BOARDS: KITCHEN, CABINETS, SHELVES, AND EVEN DOORS AND STAIRS. Take advantage of the contrast between cold and warm materials. The exposed original concrete beam column structure also plays an important role and contrasts sharply with the new structure of thin round metal columns painted in sky blue, blending into the landscape of the house.
