When starting to study this small house, after a thorough historical study, it was concluded that there are few places in Mexico with such strong structural features as Guanajuato. This is clearly reflected in its buildings, kitchen utensils, sewers, legends, and even the hero here, like Pipila, who has a huge stone behind his body so that a bullet from the conservatives will not hit his legion. In this region of the country, stone is an element deeply rooted in any form of cultural expression.
For this reason, the choice of material for this architectural work is very easy and natural. In addition, there is a database and a skilled workforce nearby; encouraging dialogue between labor and the environment. The entire cluster of buildings is organized on the basis of a cruciform plan; therefore, the space defined as a cross of stone alleys with paths is divided into four image boundaries, framing all the moments, and separating the image limit from the quadrangle.
Once divided, each penguin is given a “mission”: the lower right is the first penguin to receive them when residents arrive; its mission is to accommodate local gardens, strengthen, protect and welcome creatures and humans. THE SECOND QUADRANT PLACED THE CAR; THE TREES WERE GIVEN SPECIAL CARE DURING CONSTRUCTION, AS THEY CAN PROVIDE SHADE TO THE CAR TO PROTECT THE VEHICLE FROM SUNLIGHT.
Most importantly, a long stone wall with almost no radiance protects the entrance, blocks the view into the house and emphasizes the horizontal presence of the background mountain. The third quadrant is a house with a studio and a living room; public space and private space are separated by a single volume containing bathrooms, dressing rooms and service areas, which breaks open floor plans. The fourth quadrant is the office; it is the only prominent vertical element that contrasts with the horizontality of the landscape and other elements, trying to embellish the iconic volume of the Santa Brígida mine of Mineral de Pozos with this pose. The dispersion of these spaces forces people to make permanent pilgrimages between spaces; it puts you in touch with the earth, the air and the mountains, as if it were an ancient monastery, framing the landscape but at the same time forming its natural part.
