FeelDesign
In the residential area of Neva-Neva in St. Petersburg, a small apartment of only 12 floors was built by designer Svetlana Mamaenko into a quiet refuge. Designed for a young couple who often travel, this small house aims to create a calm and relaxing living environment. The design is based on minimalist style, light walls and natural materials, which embodies the perfect balance of space planning and design details.
The original layout of this 12-storey townhouse is a traditional one-room living room. The kitchen and hallway are separated by walls, making the space seem cramped. The designers removed some partitions to make the hallway more spacious and added wardrobes to improve storage. In addition, moving the entrance to the bedroom to a windowsill position allows the view to penetrate the entire space, while achieving a seamless connection with the greenery outside the window, enhancing the transparency of the space.
The use of corrugated glass partitions between the bedroom and the rest of the area not only adds privacy, but also maintains the flow of light, creating a spatial effect that is open but without losing partitions. This ingenious design avoids the feeling of space pressure, while making the overall vision lighter.
The original design placed the kitchen in the corner of the living room, and the designer reconfigured the kitchen using two parallel line layouts: on one side of the stove and sink, on the other side an island table with a hood. This design makes the movement smoother and maintains a visual sense of cleanliness, ideal for living spaces with small floors.
The designers designed the stove on the same axis as the island stove, and combined with an island hood, not only convenient operation, but also added a modern design feel. This design is especially suitable for small families seeking practicality and beauty.
To create a calm and cozy atmosphere, the designers chose light walls in combination with a simple geometric decoration. The use of natural materials such as wood flooring and corrugated glass makes the interior space closer to nature. The green tree outside the window becomes part of the overall design, enhancing the sense of connection with nature outside.
Although it has only 12 floors, the designers have made this house achieve far more functionality and comfort through ingenious planning and design. Corrugated glass partitions, the use of bedroom mirrors, and the rearrangement of the kitchen make every inch of space the most.
Light-colored walls, mirrors and corrugated glass partitions can effectively enhance the transparency and visual comfort of the space.
The layout of two parallel lines maximizes space utilization and maintains visual cleanliness.
It effectively separates the space and allows the light to flow freely, especially for small spaces.
Ideal for singles, small families, especially those who seek a quiet life and a natural atmosphere.
Svetlana Mamaenko's design fully demonstrates the charm of minimalism, successfully creating a quiet sanctuary that combines functionality and beauty in a small space of 12 floors. Such a design not only meets the needs of modern people, but also a small place to relax and enjoy nature.
