“When I think about functionality, it's not based on comfort or practicality. Instead, I think being able to share lives is the most important function.” — Tadao Ando
[Open the space and let the sun in]
[Open the Room to Let the Sunshine in]
At first, when we and the owner looked at the situation on the site, the original layout was only the main bedroom facing south was well lit, the secondary bedroom and living room were poorly lit, the 2 toilets and the kitchen facing north were hardly bright. Due to the fact that there is a separate entrance, the connection between the main bedroom and the entrance is directly connected to the exterior wall, the lighting of the living room is also greatly affected, and the sun can only guarantee the location of the entrance gate. Although the lighting of the master bedroom is good, it does not extend to other spaces.
SO WE STRIVE TO REMOVE ALL THE NON-LOAD-BEARING STRUCTURES BETWEEN THE MAIN BED AND THE REST OF THE SPACE, ALLOWING THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF NATURAL LIGHT INTO THE SPACE AND CONNECTING EACH SPACE. When the light fills every corner, the space opens up all the way. The entire entrance wall is made of floor glass, including the entrance door, and the house is filled with bright sunlight. After the main bedroom was transformed into the living room, the original floating window sill was also removed, freeing up more space for the current living room. Through blinds and curtains, the sun casts light of different shapes on the walls and floors.
[Free-free, imaginative home]
[A Home Full of Freedom and Imagination]
Dad likes football, collecting shoes, mom likes music and coffee, they like dragon balls and Goku, children are avid fans of various toy cars. One family loves to go outdoors on weekends, get intimate with nature, favorite colors are blue, orange, green... “Space sense, interactive, Libraries, Art Museums, Cafes, Seaside Stairs, Five Star Hotels, Children's Plenty of Activity Space, Beautiful and Practical Coexistence, Storage” and so on are the keywords given to us by the owners. So we explore more possibilities and fun together. We choose the simplest original material and a hard base to underpin the richness of life. Bare the concrete layers of some walls and beams, preserving the structural beauty of the original house; the lockers behind the living room sofa are made of glass bricks, which “sparkle” in the reflection of the sun, and the white lid on the glass bricks is the cradle of the coffee shop. The sofa can also be placed at will; The poured cement partition has the roughness of the material after being “refined”, and the dragon willow takes advantage of the vitality that grows in the cement circle...
In addition to the large blue shoe cabinet, there is also a separate storage room. Children can observe the front yard from the roundabout. They can also view the living room, the activity area and their own “transparent suspended glass room”, which is a favorite “adventure” area for children from above the storage platform. The platform connects to the event room, and the stairs of the event room extend to the entrance, can be used as a changing bench; the inside of the stairs is empty and can be used as a handmade table inside the event room; the rotating screen and folding doors can also be used as an independent space, with folding doors that do not reach the top to keep the space closed The ambient light is transparent, allowing the space to “ventilate”. With the folding door fully open in the activity room, it is connected to the living room, the entrance hall, and even the outside. When we are in one place, the feeling does not only come from here, we can feel more, further, even the sounds of the outside world, open the door to feel the natural light and feel the wind. We want spaces to be explorable, fun and imaginative, whether for growing children or adults. Part of the fun of life comes from space, and the influence of space comes from the inner feeling of it.
[A space where you can share your life at any time]
[A Space to Share Lives Anytime]
I think that home is not a box that encapsulates us, it is a collection of our inner and spiritual selves, a space where we can expand freely and unrestrained, where the family can have a good time living together. Therefore, we want space and space to be interrelated, so that family members who are active in different spaces can talk to each other, or perceive each other, so that one feels that the space is flowing, not clogged. The glass box between the living room and the master bedroom is a flexible space for children to sleep and play. Light can enter the master bedroom through this transparent children's room. The children's room has a door that can be opened in the direction of the living room, interacting with the living room. The space under the children's room is a Lego wall and a place for children to play. In this case, there is really no room concept, we define space with functions, without limits, without any rules. In a free space, companionship is the most precious time.
[Bringing light, wind, plants, and more into the room]
[Bringing Light, Wind and Plants into the Interior Naturally]
Located on the first floor, although there is no clear courtyard, at the beginning of the design we still wanted nature outside the restaurant to interact with the interior, so we open the kitchen, extend the outside of the restaurant to the balcony, open the entire space with folding doors, and fixed glass fans on the side form an L-shaped view Window fans introduce light, wind, plants, and more into the room, and get a double visual experience through the mirrors on the entire wall. Sitting at the restaurant or coffee bar counter, you can feel the light of the spring, autumn and winter seasons, see flowers in spring, eat watermelons in summer, watch rain and maple leaves in autumn, snowmen in winter. Each year varies from season to year, and every square is the scene of a good life. The originally dark kitchen also received natural light due to the open space, and a laundry room was made separately to solve household storage. In addition to storage and equipment, the inside of the cabinet is also equipped, so the exterior uses hole plates to solve some convenient storage.
[The concept of weakening the room, defining the space with functions]
[Shorten the Concept of Rooms and Define Space with Function]
The second bed between the living room and the restaurant, where foreigners may live irregularly in the future, is currently where the aunt and her children sleep, and a circular window has been made at the top of this space to ensure lighting and ventilation. Unused space is open and you can also see the living room sitting in the restaurant against the yard. THE DRY AREA IS A POND THAT IS NOW POURED, CONVENIENT FOR CHILDREN TO BATHE. THE ACRYLIC GARMENT BOX UNDER THE POOL AND THE ORANGE “HOLE DOOR” COLOR MATCH WELL, AND THE BLUE DRAWER AND TOILET CUPBOARD ARE TRENDY AND BRIGHT. We weakened the concept of the room with the form of a ground floor. The main bedroom was limited, but we wanted to store it entirely on the wall. So we made a floor, the floor was laid on the floor, the floor was laid on the floor, and at the same time the floor above was the bed. At the end of the bed, a full-face cabinet was made to accommodate storage, with shutters on the top of the cabinet, and a sliding door at the bottom near the bed for easy access.
The main bedroom space bed is now poured with cement partitions, replacing the bedside cabinet, mosaic tiles replacing the headrest, saving space also fulfills the function in different forms. The original rough authentic texture, combined with the lights, collides with the cute clash of the Iron Armadillo. Using part of the original Lord's as the master bedroom bathroom, the thickness of the tube makes a small platform for aroma, greenery, small table lamps, a vintage shower with a warm glass chandelier full of atmosphere. At home, it does not care about style, only about your lifestyle and expectations for the future. As Professor Ando said, “The criterion for determining whether or not a project takes place is not about budget and scale, but about whether you can discuss your dreams with your clients and take on challenges.” Fortunately, we accomplished the dream together with the owner.
